St Pierre Park Hotel

A quick skip, hop and a jump from Southampton Airport and you can be in the (mostly sunny) paradise of the Channel Islands.

This adventure was to Guernsey – with mile stretches of stunning soft sand and clear blue seas, cliff top walks, rib safaris and tax free shopping there’s not much to dislike about this stunning little island.

We stayed for 4 nights at St Pierre Park Hotel which is situated a mere 10 minute drive away from main shopping streets, restaurants and cafés. The hotel offers an array of outdoor activities, a number of restaurants and a brand-new state of the art gym, spa and swimming pool. Recently taken over by Handpicked Hotels, I was eager to check out the refurbishments myself having been staying at the hotel regularly since the 90s.

We checked into the Master Spa Suite – the best room in the hotel which offered a stunning private roof terrace, hot tub, desirable lounge space and the comfiest bed I have ever slept in. Unlike the standard rooms in the hotel, the bedroom was far away from the corridor which meant we were not disturbed by the morning hustle and bustle outside.

When the weather disappointed, St Pierre Park lifted our spirits with a delicious, locally sourced cooked breakfast followed by laze in their dreamy, floor to ceiling glass sauna which looked out on the ample green space, lake and golf course and a swim in their state of the art swimming pool. The outdoor jacuzzi was the perfect temperature to be enjoyed rain or shine. We snuggled up in our suite’s lounge area to watch the first of two televisions in the room and took full advantage of the complimentary Nespresso Machine. Also on offer to pass a rainy day at the hotel were a wide selection of up to date DVD’s and in-room fitness sets with inclusive workout equipment!

When the sun was out, we thoroughly enjoyed our private hot tub and cosy outdoor seating area, a fun game of crazy golf and tennis in the grounds and cheeky champagne cocktails on the sun terrace.

This was possibly the most impressive and enjoyable room I have ever stayed in and I will definitely be returning!

Tips & Recommendations:

Be sure to enquire about the complimentary shuttle bus service. It wasn’t available all the time but offers travel between the hotel, town and the airport.
